Hi Ivy,

Thank you for your reply and for a glimpse into your medical situation! I guess I'm to the point in all of this that I have come to a place of acceptance with all of this. But, it doesn't mean I have to just shrug my shoulders and say "oh well." I am going to continue to work towards getting a better label on Prednisone so that others are warned and aware so that they know what the early symptoms of Osteonecrosis are. When found early (stage 1 or 2), they can get surgical treatment to halt the progression of the disease and prevent the collapse of their bones. Most mainstream orthos wait too long to treat with a wait and see approach or use x-ray instead of MRI to properly diagnose a person who's been on high dose steroids. Also, there are a number of cases who've been diagnosed with this as a result of low dose steroids as well, so any suspect joint should be MRI'd.

I found this site early on in her diagnosis and was so frightened for what her future held. It is scary when someone tells you that areas of your bones are dead. I'm just so thankful I found her doctor and feel that we've gotten the best care possible for her. Anyone looking for contact information for Dr. Mont can contact me by email.

Thanks for listening, and if you've read this and have a story of your own, I'd love to hear from you!
Elise
