GO SEE AN ENDOCRINOLOGIST!!! It sounds like you still have Cushing's syndrome from the steroids. Are you still on a steroid dose now? If you are, that is probably the culprit. If you are not, then it sounds like your adrenals are still in overdrive. The weight you have on is NOT FAT, it is WATER! Eating as little as you are will NOT bring results...some people have found that limiting salt intake helps a bit, also SOME people have found that limiting carbohydrates also helps a bit. Steroids can take up to a year to leave the system...and that when on a small dose for a shorter amount of time then you were on them.

Please be sure to see an endochrinologist to help you...you need an AM cortisol level AND an ACTH. The cortisol level is a simple blood test done on a fast, and the ACTH is a 24 hour urine test. Those tests will tell quite a bit about what is going on. You may also want to ask about a thyroid panel to make sure that is not causing your inability to lose weight. The steroid can cause some problems with your thyroid also. A good endo should know all this.

I wish you the best of luck!! If you have any questions or just need to vent, please feel free to use this forum :) We DEFINITELY understand what you are going through!!

Ivy
