Cheryl,

I am sorry you had to find this site, but am glad you did! I do have some questions for you...who told you that doing an orthostatic test (the laying/sitting/standing test) is for adrenal function? I was told by the docs at both the cleveland clinic in FL and Mayo Clinic in MN that the tilt test/orthostatic test are used to determine function or damage of the vegus nerve. I know this because I have autoimmune mediated autonomic dysfunction, and a big part of my being diagnosed was done by the tilt test (with various breathing tests done at the same time). The vegus nerve does NOT become damaged due to steroid use...mine is actually treated with a combo of prednisone and 6-mp (a steroid-sparing drug).

After 2 yrs of being off prednisone, I would think your adrenals would have kicked back in, were you on the steroids for a long time or at a high dose? Have you seen an endocrinologist to check your cortisol and ACTH levels and also thyroid function (a problem with the thyroid can mimic that side effects of steroids)?

I have noticed that this site is mainly women...but I think that is because women are more open about how they are feeling, and also because women have a higher rate of autoimmune problems (a common reason for needing steroids). These are a great group of women, though :) I could not get through my mess with pred without them!!!

I hope to hear from you soon!!

Ivy
