Subject: Kenalog 40

New to this board. Lyn, sorry to hear of you daughter needs to deal with the sise effect of Kenalog 40.I had injections for a piriformis injury. The piriformis is a muscle in the buttocks incase you didn't know. Kenalog 40 did stop the unrelenting buttock/left leg pain that I was pledged with from a chiropractic manlipulation.
Since the chiro labeled his mishap a sciatic problem that label lived on in my medical history. It took ten years before I was able to have any one look outside the box.
To make a log story short my third attempt to stop this pain I sought out my third PM doctor. This time I made it perfectly clear only the piriformis muscle was to be injected and not the sciatic nerve as previously done.
The PM doctor specialist as he was referred as had set me up for 6 injection one weekly.
The very first injection was like a miracle...by the following afternoon approx 24 hrs later I new I finally was doing the right thing this time.What the moron did was he did 5 injections and following the fifth I was told he was going to put me on hold and the final 6th would need to wait until the following month. I read where Kenalog 40 should never be abruptly/ suddenly stopped.
So I waitd until he was good and ready to see me again. It was six weeks before we resumed with the last injection.
Well what happened because of his negligenceand that he didn't even monitor me in the long abscense of six weeks
that was a big mistake on his part. The day i was able to return for my final 6th injection to complete the sequence of six as intented. Although the first 5 injections had been administered and given directly into the pirformis muscle. He tells me before he was about to give me the final shot...if i felt something different 'it was because it wouldn't be given into the muscle as previouly done for the five earlier....why i ask when things were going so well. he relies " I think it will help you".
Anyways...if my husband and I would have waited 15 minutes my body would have started to swell up right in his office...instead we left like most people do...by the time we arrived home my shoulders, ankles, neck girdle swelled up. to this very day I believe I my have cushing disease..and need to see a endocrineolgist soon. So my advise for anyone please ask what the side affect are and don't let him or her worm themsleves around any aspect of your treatment steriods are serious medication and kenalog 40 all though it did stop my pain..I rather have that pain them have what it gave me.
