Tom,
Large doses of steroids can damage the heart. We are talking LARGE doses. I've heard of damage but not a heart attack. Other than the immediate treatment, have you had a complete cardiac work-up? Have you had a cardiac echo, stress test or heart cath? My drs did an echo the first time I was given IV decadron to get a baseline reading incase there was future problems. So far my heart is good, it's the rest of me that falls apart. My husband had several episodes of chest/jaw/arm pain. He also has a long family hx of male relatives either dropping dead or having heart surgery. I work for cardiac surgeons, needless to say, he was having a heart cath within 48hrs. All of his cornary arteries were clear. He has spasms of his esophagus. It took quite a bit of testing to find the cause, but now we both feel better about it. What I'm trying to say is chest/jaw/arm pain should NEVER be ignored. Keep searching till you have answers. I tell patients to go to the ER quite a bit because of those symptoms. It is better to be over cautious than extremely ill or dead. I hope you find your answers and everything is fine. becki
