Hello Don,

I am so sorry foe the tragic loss of your wife. The first and most important thing for you is to remember that it was NOT your fault! From what I can tell, you were her blessing and her faith in you was a gift to her in troubling times. The insert should have included all the side-effects. Even if you would have known the doctors may not have listened to you or follow your suggestions. Had something happened to her if you went against doctors advice you may have blamed yourself as well. The best thing you can do is what you said you want to do. Help save someone else by getting the insert changed. I founded this small nonprofit more than a decade ago. I got a small ($20,000) settlement from the pharmacy and the labeling changed on the steroid cream in those pharmacies throughout the United States. I contacted them, explained what i wanted done with the labeling. I also told them I was going against my lawyers advice when in reality I didn't even have a lawyer (they didn't understand steroid side-effects) back then. I got them to write a letter on the dangers of steroid prescriptions and they commended my efforts to inform the public in that letter. I did not demand the accept legal liability and the settlement was made when they realized my intent was to help others. You can read about it on the "Bio" page on our website. You can also read the legislation I got passed in the state of nevada. It is the 1st link (AJR23) in the "links" section of our website. Although I never got it to the federal level as the steroid manufacturers are powerful lobbyist and we are a small mom and pop nonprofit. The FDA accepts what the steroid manufacturers say in the inserts and usually do not even check to see if they are truthful. Doctors often stick together creating a white wall of silence and not being forthcoming when another doctor has made a mistake. If I can help your efforts in any small way just let me know.
Looking back and blaming yourself is not what your wife would want. She sounds like someone who was loving and proud of you. You can help others with that same determination you used to try and help her. She is in God's arms now but she is still your angel. Take strength from that and show yourself the love she had for you. Her memory
