I was placed on Pred because og Grave's Disease and specifically Thyroid Eye Disease (TED)to stop the swelling behind my eyes as it was causing my eyes to protrude out of the orbits. I have been up and down...highest dose was 80 mgs for 4 months and down to 10 mgs. EVERY TIME I get below 20 to 30 mgs, my eyes start to swell. I loose my vision in my left eye when this happens, so the pred is to keep the swelling from compressing my optic nerves. But, it has done a number on my head too. Wild mood swings at times, panic attacks, very severe depression, etc. You know the drill, I'm sure. I am holding at 30 mgs until next Monday, Oct 30th when I get the steroids injected into the muscles themselves. THese Endo's think this will ENABLE me to taper off the Pred. I can only hope so. At 30 mgs, I have horrible muscle and bone pain, can't walk 20 feet without sitting down, my muscles jut plain lock up! So, We'll see what happens with the injections!
