becki: Oh, I will definitely keep you in my prayers! I wish I could be there on Monday to give you a great big hug! Congrats on having such courage and taking the risk into a LIFE. I have been pretty much homebound for 6 yrs. I, too, take little risks and am going to take bigger ones, partly because of your inspiration. I do not work as I am disabled in other ways...but, like you, if I do have to go out (like to the doc's office) I load up with Prell and listerine and all kinds of wipes, etc. My next step is to go to the drugstore, or shopping or just to see friends or family....it's scary, though. I do have an "occupation" which is genealogy and that keeps me busy, but I miss being with people and doing things for myself.
As for pulmonologists, the last two I saw diagnosed me right off the bat with emphysema as I was a smoker...didn't have much to say about allergies or asthma or reflux...but gave me the same meds as for those things. I do not have the symptoms of emphysema...I have severe asthma! I determined never to see a pulmonologist aain. The last one was supposed to help me wean off pred...and he passed the buck back to my primary doc. Go figure. Today I go down from 15 to 10 for five days..we will see how it goes. I am SO PROUD OF YOU! Thank you with all my heart for your help and caring. Sharon
