I understand pushing people away. I looked so bad I didn't let my friends see me, I thought I'd wait till I felt and looked better. After a year I realized that I didn't know when or if I would look and feel better and that not seeing my friends was not fair to them or me. I also believed that if they were my friend they would try not to stare and be supportive. They were! I had robbed myself of their support and company for a year just as the steroid had robbed my health and looks. Before, During and After pictures of me are on our SWN website.They are there for people to show there is hope. I looked worse than you ever could simply because my steroid was a steroid crea used on my face and body that caused Hundreds of black ingrown hairs and cysts that you won't get. Even as bad as I was, most reversed. Look at the AFTER pictures of me and you will see hope for yourself. As far as legal, I never found a lawyer that understood what damage steroids can do (there are some out there now) so the doctor got away with it. But without a lawyer I got a settlement from the pharmacy and got Smith pharmacies to change their labeling throughout the United States, on Lotrisone cream (the steroid cream I'd been given). Sometimes it is easier to sue the "Clinic" where your doctor practices (if in a clinic) for personal injury instead of sueing the doctor for malpractice. Malpractice is a heavier burden to prove and most have to go through a medical board for approval. When it is a personal injury claim it does not have to go throgh others doctors to be approved. Statue of limitations vary state to state but usuall begins the moment you knew or should have know the injury was caused by negligence. There is a link or 2 in the "More Links"section that is legal, searchable sites. You sure have been through alot, too much but it shows you are a fighter and survivor. As a writer, create a reality now that helps you cope. You said you are a big gift giver, then give your family, friends, and yourself the best gift you can this New Year. Make that gift, taking care of yourself, that is the most important gift and without it anything else will mean nothing. Papmer, spoil, bubble baths, simple things that maybe you would not do for you but wouldn't hesitate to do for someone else. This is the time, if not now, when? Your body, mind and emotions need to heal, stress produced a natural steroid, reduce your stress as best you can. I know it is not easy but I also know it is crucial. When you get the chance read my post with the subject: "Fluff up ladies" and see if it offers you any comfort or insight. This is the time to use that creative mind to help you, then you can help others with your book. Think of this New Year as your time.
