- I love the Kit-Kat commercial where the guy is dancing because he ate a Kit-Kat -- Donathan, 11:53:29 02/26/03 Wed (cache-rl04.proxy.aol.com/152.163.189.100)
This guy eats a Kitkat bar and then the word "break"is shouted and the guy starts dancing. He is a professional in an office, probably a bank or stockbroker. He does the worm, break dances on his table, jumps up and jumps on chairs, and puts his leg behind him and dances, and you can see him from a window and the people in the building can see him too. Then his receptionist or secreatry says "Your client is here". He has standidng upside down on the table and then he gets up and asks professional, saying "send them in." That is so a funny commercial. I laughed through this commercial.

I like the commercial where this guy is trying to get something from some store and he is asking if they accept checks. The salespeople say "Yo" and point to a sign saying something like "Absolutely no checks". The guy thinks that they mean his name, Yow, and keeps repeating that his name is that. They keep saying Yo and they point to the sign. The boy is obviously confused and frustrated. Then the announcer says "Having trouble? Next time bring a Visa". Then at the end, these black guys say "Yo", meaning that they were saying the slang greeting.

- Looking for commercial asking, "Why?" -- Crystal, 22:17:32 07/12/05 Tue (adsl-70-240-245-132.dsl.hstntx.swbell.net/70.240.245.132)
My favorite commercial aired in early 2001, but I haven't been able to find anything about it online. It is for an energy or telecommunications company where the people keep on asking, "Why?" and the voice over talks about how "why" is a confrontational word. "Why" is a word which forces people to think, question assumptions, reconsider their conclusions, etc. By constantly asking itself "why," the company strives to improve itself, its employees and its corporate practices. Does anyone know what company made this ad? Does anyone have the script?

- "We're gonna wear out that back seat, if you know what I'm saying." -- Arrowhead, 19:34:14 12/15/02 Sun (dialup-65.58.221.164.Dial1.Portland1.Level3.net/65.58.221.164)
There's this old car commercial that shows a couple going to a car lot to buy a car and the salesmen watches, shocked, as the woman says to her man, "How's the back seat, honey?" And says to the salesman, "It's going to get a lot of use." And the man is in the backseat, rocking it back and forth in a rather tacky manner and leans between the front seats, panting, and he's like, "Oh yeah, baby, this will be just fine for what we're going to use it for!" And she says, "I'll join you in a sec." But then you see that it was for their dog, who was going to jump around a lot in the back seat and lean between the seats and pant, and the man was simulating what the dog would do to see if it would be suitable for his dog. Actually, the ending, letting the audience know that the couple was only referring to a dog and probably don't engage in sex unless it's missionary sex to procreate in the sanctity of marriage, kind of ruined it. "Don't worry, puritans, they're not having sex. Not in the back of a car. You're still safe." But otherwise, it's an okay commercial. Except for that it's got a proposterous premise brought to life by the performance of the horny guy and the jaded girl and shocked salesman. Maybe it was a dog food ad. Maybe it was an anti-sex public service announcement. Maybe it was a pro-zoophilia p.s.a. I can't remember. It was awhile ago. I take it back, I don't love this commercial, and I don't even like it. I'm sorry that I wasted your time.
I did like it at the time because it reminded me of that one skit on SNL where they physically abuse each other and spout increasingly sexual innuendo, and one of the skits took place at a car dealership and they say things like, "Do you want to shift it? You wanna shift my stick?" It was called The Zimmermans, and had Ben Afleck as a car salesman. Also, it reminded me of the scene in Crash where James Spader and Rosanna Arquette go into a car dealership and the salesman walks up and is like, "You see anything that interests you?" And Rosanna's rubbing her breasts against the car, sticking her butt in the air, and is like, "This interests me." And stands up and goes, "I want to see if I can fit into a car made for a normal body." Because she's been in a few car crashes and has black metal braces on her torso and legs, with little compartments that hold cigarettes and she's dressed in black leather with a scary-looking S&M walking cane and looks like Darth Vader and she gets in and one of the hooks on her leg brace snagged on the seat and she goes, "I'm stuck." And the car salesman tries to help her out, grabbing her leg, her inner thigh, and rips the car seat trying to get her undone, and this arouses Rosanna and James because they get off on car wrecks, and feel like they were taking the car's virginity, and she feels up James' crotch while the salesman is like, "Darn it."
But anyway, I love this commercial.

I was watching some television show, some news program, and the reporter was like, "Terminator 3 has a chick in it, and we're very excited." And they showed the trailer for it like they were reporting the news, and it was very good. It showed some woman named the T-X, and she was a bad ass robot and showed her jumping off a cliff and landing on the car and Claire Danes inside the car going, "OH MY GOD!" And it showed the T-X driving a truck down the road that had a wrecking ball on the back and Arnold Schwarzenegger was clinging to the wrecking ball and she flings the wrecking ball into a building and tears the side of the building in half, but Arnold's still clinging to the ball, and it showed Arnold firing a missile at her in a graveyard and then going, "She'll be back."
And the reporter came back on and was like, "Aren't you glad that we showed you some commercial instead of reporting the news?" And I was like, "Yeah, I actually am!" And the next day, the commercial was still on my mind and, like a little kid, I was pretending to be a Terminator, only I was pretending in my head instead of jumping around and acting outragiously stupid like my nephews do when they watch Pokemon.

I like the commercial where the guy, we'll call him Billy because I can't think of his name, from the photo development place calls the woman who used to be a regular customer, who we'll call Patricia because I can't remember her name, and he's like, "Hi, Patricia, this is Billy from the One-Hour Fotoplace. How are you? The family misses you down here. Did your camera break?" And she explains that she has some computer program, so she no longer needs film developed. And he's like, "Oh that sounds complicated." And she's like, "Nope. You just press one button and it's done." And he's like, "Well! I have one button, too." And he presses on the 1 button on the phone's keypad. And then he's like, "Or perhaps you'd like #2." And then BEEEEEEEP. I don't know why I love it, but I do.

The only recent commercial I really loved was a PSA that ran in the Seattle area (advertising new area codes) and showed this big-assed elephant picking up a telephone receiver with its trunk and trying to "dial" the ordinary looking desk telephone with its front foot. Every time the elephant would dial a digit of the new area code, it would just end up smashing that poor phone farther and farther into the ground!! :-)
Before too long, the telephone was just a flat mess that could be swept up with a whisk broom & dustpan and dumped in the nearest garbage can!
I think US West ran this ad, so they need to be thanked! :-)

I absolutely love that commercial for HP digital photography with the guy sitting in the chair and putting frames over his head, and then taking them off and they become pictures of his face. (There's another version of this commercial with more people than that one guy, but I like the one-guy version better.) I just think the special effects are really cool. I also like the song that plays, which a Google search has told be is "Picture Book" by the Kinks.

I enjoyed that series of hideous M&M commercials where humans would try to eat those cute little M&M's. I want to use the word cannibalism, but that's not right because the humans aren't eating other humans, even though the M&M's seemed human. It was so outrageous that I loved it. I know that the ads are kind of old. I'm not sure they're even showing them anymore, but who cares? I loved it. I remember wondering what I would do if faced with a chocolate urge while being around an oversized, walking M&M with a good personality. I said to myself, "Self," I says, "What if it was your friend (or lover) and you cared for it, even LOVED it?"
And then I wondered, "Would I make it the point that we even had such a deep, complex relationship, or would I eat it before we got that far?" The question was answered when I bought a bag of peanut butter M&M's and imagined that they were alive. Would I spare them? Little PEOPLE, as human as I, that are probably friends with each other, related to each other, family members. A little community in a bag, innocently living out their lives? Separate, distinct personalities with goals and dreams, assets as well as faults, who cry and laugh and try their hardest? It was the best bag of M&M's that I've ever eaten.

I like the music on the old Gateway commercials that goes, "Whooooo are you? Who who! Who who! (I really wanna knoowww) whoooooo are you..." I think it's sung by The Who. It might just be the subliminal messages talking, but I love those commercials. I used to hear that song and it would fill me with the warm fuzzies. It's sort of the opposite of those other commercials that played The Beatles' song that goes, "You've got to admit it's getting better, getting better all the time" which says evil things when played backward, or so I've read.

- My favorite commercial! -- applepiemommy, 17:00:53 12/16/03 Tue (lsanca2-ar28-4-47-241-097.lsanca2.dsl-verizon.net/4.47.241.97)
I love the one for Sunny Delight where the two kids are in the back of a car each listening to his/her headphones and singing out loud. The boy is rapping really horribly and the girl is singing off key to some love song. The parents look nauseated. Later, after the kids drink some Sunny D, the kids have the nauseated look and the parents are listening to some Michael Bolton type music and smiling.
Cracks me up! I'd love to do that to my kids.

I like the Pop-Tart commercials with Jason. They are funny. I also love the Mentos commercial with the girl kissing her boyfriend in her bedroom and the clever way she put makeup on him and a towel on him and disguised him as a girl so that she wouldn't get caught and get in trouble. Lastly, I love the Visa commercial which I've already mentioned.

- Jack in the box -- Jennifer, 08:12:35 05/12/03 Mon (cache-dl06.proxy.aol.com/205.188.209.42)
I usually hate JotB commercials. But the pretty recent one that I love is where Jack is walking through this office and asks this guy, "Kevin" to go to Philadelphia to learn all there is about it - because Jack is going to make his Philly steak sandwich.
The next scene is with Jack and this woman and the "new" Kevin pops up and says something like....."Hey, Jack-ee! I soaked up Philly like a sponge..." and then tries to come on to the woman, who is totally repulsed by him.
Very funny.
