Tom -

so good that you found your way here. That's the most frustrating part, knowing there are so many Scarboroughites out there and that they haven't yet found this...

I well remember your "Comparative Religion" class, up on the second floor in the classroom next to the Library. You not only held the attention of a classroom full of rambunctious kids on the verge of adolescence, but you even managed to teach us something. I'm still one of the few people in any conversation who can explain what "Zoarastrianism" is - not that the subject comes up all that often!

Knowing about Zen Buddhism before the "Beats," and being able to differentiate between Mahiyana and Hinyana Buddhism, and understand what differentiates Confucianism from Taoism gave me a big leg upin the sixites!

But the class was a first for me - the first time I consciously realised I was being asked to think for myself - that we weren't looking for "right" or "wrong" answers, but rather for understanding. It was fascinating.

Thanks for that!

Cheers,

N

Mr Huebner, I don't know if you remember me but I, Alma Ippolito Walshak, was in both your English and Comparative Religion classes in junior high. I remember the great discussions we had in class and also your emphasizing "always ask WHY, WHY WHY!". Unfortunately I left Scarborough after my freshman year but I do have very fond memories of my years there. I hope you and your family are doing well. How did you end up in Vermont???
