Hi Jennifer,
I went to Scarborough from 1958-64 leaving after finishing 3rd grade. I remember Vicky Richardson- she was my 'best-friend' for a few years. Her father was headmaster, and they lived in the house just down the road from the school.
I remember a Tommy McLaughlin, (any relation?) and David Fisher, Glen Horn. The Art room that was downstairs, and Dance class. I also remember the Carousel with carved animals. I learned to ride a 2 wheel bike (Glen Horn let me try his) in the circle drive next to the school. I remember going to the auditorium for a special announcement that dark day in Nov. when President Kennedy was shot- The stage had big velvet curtians, and I hid inside them because I was scared.
I started in the "pre-school building" down the hill near the football field. I was 3 and left at the end of 3rd grade. And OH YES- I do remember the Maypoles and picnics. I actually have some old home movies of the maypole celebrations there. I also remember the big kids were doing some kind of Shakespeare program out behind the old school, and the "Bubble, bubble Toil and Trouble" chanting.
There were red geraniums that always grew outside the main gate-

It was a magical strange time- It all seems like such a long time ago now...

peace,
Laurie
