I have watched JAG since it first began and have always enjoyed it. The past few years, the story lines have been a bit "thin" at times... and I'll admit I haven't watched the show "faithfully" as I once did. I do agree that the writers have frustrated the audience with the Harm/Mac arrangement.

I know I'll be alone in the crowd here, but I wasn't offended by the end of last season. Nor am I offended by the writers decision to finally highlight the flaws in Harm's character. Everyone will remember that he has systematically sabotaged every relationship ... (Annie, Renee, etc.) basically the character is a commitmentphobe. And that's ok. In this season's opener, it becomes clear not only to the character of Mac, but to the audience as well. I was just surprised that they made him so blatently mean to her and that they have decided to regress and expose him as being petty, jealous and childish.

And I'm positive I'll be alone in this sentiment too, but I don't mind the writers exploring the Mac/Webb relationship. It's just more plausible. The JAG office would end up too "Ward & June Cleaver" if they put Harm & Mac in there together as a "couple" ... you've already got Bud & Harriet: I mean what would be next ... the Admiral marries Coates?

Sure, I know to a lot of people it's a disappointment. But in some cases, even writers know that some characters just don't belong together in a romantic arrangement. And that's where these characters fit.
