hi! I had the same problem 4 months ago when my previous computer droped me! What I did with it? read Jag articles on the webb, jag fanfics, listened to jag wav. and other jag internet related things...so, I bought quite a simple computer (since it will be new, they all almost have now a video ans sound card included)for the use, it's sufficient (just the webb and the sound to listen to video clips etc...)to have a simple one. A friend told me than there were no need to have a really expensive one for internet (and message boards!here). But if you buy one with a DVD player and one CD reWritable player, it enables you to copy music CD (for your own use only -said that in case somebody would want to sue me with that one LOL!) and it's great!
