Roses for a Lost Love


He walks to the headstone, age slowing his gait
To sit and remember, to patiently wait,
He travels to visit her each waking day
He brings her a red rose, beside her name he will lay
His cries reach out to the sun and the sky.
His words asking why?
He prays to her memory, these words he must say:

Petals fall like teardrops
The pain won’t go away
There must be a heaven Lord
Cause I’m living in hell, every day

The scent of the red rose fades over time
The memories of your sweet lips, gently touching mine.
The love and the laughter, like petals they fall
Into places, where memories and heartache live after all.

Petals fall like teardrops
The sorrows still reign
There must be a heaven, Lord
Where I’ll see her again

The beauty of the red rose, still lingers in my heart
The past been a prison that kept us apart
That teardrops fall like petals from a waiting rose
From the budding of springtime to the cold winter snows.
Someday we’ll be meeting in the world up above
And continue our promise of undying love.
