There is no need to apologise or justify your work. My intention has always been for Unicorn to be an open forum with no censorship etc - except for certain cases of explicit racism or other prejudices - and I have never had to exercise that right.

Having studied and taught poetry, I was not aware there was such a definition of a 'real' poem. Literature as with many of the other arts is constantly changing and evolving. If a definition were to limit new ways of writing or expression I think that would be a sad reflection on our times and would close our minds to the innovative talents that come our way from time to time.

Whether or not a reader 'likes' or can relate to a certain poem is a different matter and really up to him or her but this does not mean you have to write to please the vast majority.

I agree with what Rafael says and he expresses himself far better than my clumsy ramblings.
