Gossamer wings

Intricate shades of violet and green reflect in summer sun
as gossamer wings brush tenderly against my skin
like a thousand of your sweet kisses
refreshing a tortured soul
fragile and delicate
harmonious
perfect

until

furious
words of anger
are lashed violently at me
freezing my once warm heart
with fist tightly clenched I fold my
bruised soul into my delicate gossamer wings
then like the fleeting butterfly, I too lay down to die.
