Subject: Less Sorrow

LESS SORROW

A perfect summer night
Now in a wondering mood
After leaving a good friend
Who's strange question,
Had left her somewhat unglued.

Wanting cleansing speed
And wind through her hair
With precision of gears shifting
Her to a higher level of aware.

Impulsively she enters the highway,
Her little black dog riding by her side
She quickly shifts from third to fifth
For her car moving as if down a water slide.

Feeling as if she's thriving while driving
With the bright stars twinkling above,
Contentment takes a hold before being startled
By a sight, hard to conceive of.

A flash of a large gold necklace
Upon a woman waving her arms
Standing next to her broken down car
A sight, that set off my internal alarms.

Of how, she was open to prey
From any low lifers driving by
So on went my left signal
To stop on the median, ever so spry.

With relief, she ran up to my car
After apologetically asking her to open her purse
Making sure there was no gun
I offered a ride without reimburse.

For there could be I
With a broken down car
In the middle of almost nowhere
Not being able to run, even if a track star.

Which she certainly was not,
Just a daughter on her way to the airport
With incorrect directions, going wrong way
As well as car problems leaving her quite short.

And very worried about her Mother,
Who should have arrived
At Newark's Terminal C
Probably feeling very info deprived.

So me and my little dog Onyx
Had got this daughter there
For a happy family reunion
After both being, slightly scared.

With things under control
I bid them a fond adieu
To disappear back into the night
Feeling quite spiritually accrued.

Thanking the Highest Source
I was put there to help
And of her in newspapers tomorrow
I would not have to read
That this world .. had added more sorrow.

This happened about five years
ago, I only told them the name
of a Transportation company I
work for and my dept. but never
heard from them and had almost
forgotten about it except I had
my memory jarred the other night,
so I wrote a poem...*grin*. And
I'm also blessed with my job, to
help people every day. The
gun reference is because around then,
there was a spree of a woman
decoy feigning a need for help
and when someone stopped,
hidden men would jump out
to rob, carjack or worse. I
also stopped my car far enough
ahead to make sure only she
approached and still grateful I
was able to help. Oh yes, I did
reluctantly accept $2. for the
Airport parking garage as I only
had change on me, so a tiny reimbuse.
*smile*
