Fingers carefully lifting the book away and setting it aside on the nightstand, he dipped his nose down into the fragrant gold of her hair, nuzzling against her cheek with a sigh. What would he do without this blue-eyed angel? Sleep alone in a lonely bed. But not tonight. Drawing back to look down on her tenderly a silent moment, he shifted to position her far enough away from the edge of the bed that they didn't risk toppling over with a light, humored grin and smoothed her golden curls affectionately with words as soft as his touch. "Tonight, tomorrow, and for the rest of our immortality, my love, if you will have me for that long..." And please say that she would? And fairly certain of her answer anyway, he took her lips with his before she spoke, shifting to carefully straddle her hips with no aggression about him whatsoever. Oh no, nothing aggressive or domineering tonight, but sensitive and mutual, as if sealing some bond tonight that both had sensed for so long but one had never committed. Perhaps tonight the patient angel would get what she had hoped for through all those years at her devil's restless side...
