Subject: In Favour of Appeasement

People in the world today critisize the policy of appeasement. Why? Imagine you had seen the horrors of the First World War, would you be in favour of starting another war over something that at the time didn't seem that trivial. Fair enough, Hitler wanted more than what he had said he wanted, but at the time how were people to know that. Chamberlain was just trying to keep the peace and perhaps buy time to re-arm if war began to seem inevetable. People criticize him today, but i would bet that if they were around in 1938, when Chamberlain waved his paper that claimed peace in our time, they would have rejoiced.
Churchill may have predicted that a war would come from all of this but where was his support. The public supported the peace effort and Britain had a pitifully weak army. Sorry, Churchill, you were great during the war but before it you were a right loser.
