Look Hodge. Tyrone reads. A lot. To his great credit and benefit. I also read. Tyrone has read many things that many people would be astonished that someone his age has read and not only has he read them but also shows a good understanding of them. As a result of reading wonderful books. You, Hodge may have heard of Jean Paul Satre but i am confident Gramps hasn't and i would indeed be surpised if Robin had heard of this wonderful author whom i, admitably, have yet to discover the true wonders of- despite one of his books being visable in the RATM Evil Empire sleave). As a result, his vocabulary is extensive and colourful.
I also read and so have an arsenal of 'long words'.
Tyrone varies his vocabulary depending on who he is talking to. Obviously this has to be done, talking with a wide vocabulary clearly excites people like Gramps in a negative way. i know one person who is convinced i am really posh because of my knack of being able to use words of more than one sylable- spelling anyone? and consequently he wants to start a class war, fitting considering my reading Animal Farm.
When arguing it is very useful to use specific words (often longer) to leave less room for ambiguety as well as providing evidence that you are a learned man or woman, which can make your argument more convincing.

I think Tyrones original voluble thread was a reply to mine, he will have know that i would have a good grasp of what he was saying, especially considering it was to with total hedonism, a subject which him, me and others are very interested in. My reply was to him and so i used a vocabu, ary that was nnot very restrictive. This seemed foreign to Robin as i often restrict my vocabulary; as the only thing many of my friends often read is 'KERANGGGGGGG!'.

And so the argument started and continued.
I clearly would not use that vocabulary when talking to Gramps as he is one of those 'Kerangggggg!' only readers and seems very offended (maybe threatened would be a better word.)

You are an intellegent boy (i wish i could spell better, which reading may well help me with, Study guides dont help much) Hodge. Do you read much?
