i understand where you're coming from, but gender seems to be one of those things in which it is easy to stereotype. dont get me wrong, there are definitely generalised differences between the sexes but not so pronounced as what you mentioned. we all like to make life seem that much more ordered and rational but there are no absolute truths anymore. i'm not gonna discuss my personal views on virginity (seems a bit innappropriate considering..!) but maybe IN GENERAL women have in the past been encouraged to take more responsibilty for safe sex and making 'correct decisions' (i.e based on what the older generation perceives the 'correct' way to behave is). also it is in our interests more (despite the huge risk of STDs) as we get pregnant.

i can understand your argument, and there has always been a sexual double standard. it still seems that blokes can stick their thing anywhere as much as they like and they arent looked down on. yet women do the same thing and they're labelled 'sluts'. i must confess that i attribute this added pressure on peers, i.e. women tend to look down on other women considered 'loose'. but what i hate most is the way that mud can stick, that people will still believe harsh blatent lies about people's love and sex lives. i would like to say that you should always get to know the person without any prejudices or stereotypes. everyone is an individual and no one deserves to be looked down on for their personal relationships, since it is PERSONAL. so...back to the forementioned argument, it doesnt matter whether there is gender preference for a certain way of behaviour as long as everyone has the freedom to do what they want in their private lives and it is what they choose.
is that balanced enough for you?
