I would like to add that Steve Jones, the guitarist from the Sex Pistols, was actually quite an accomplished musician before joining the Pistols (i dont think i am the only one that thinks he pretended to be worse than he was).
Accomplished musicianship doesn't seem to seem to be very pnuk, but Jones made up for it by stealing instruments for the pistols to play. I know he nabbed instruments of Dave Bowies' band and the Rolling Stones.

Then there is Glen Matlock (the original bassist) who seems to have been teh musical brain behind the band. He wrote three of the four of the big hits. I think he went to art college. I'm sure he was kicked out of the Pistols for liking the Beatles.
And so he was replaced by Lydon's friend, SID VICIOUS. He could not play bass to save his life, and infact Jones plays the bass on the album. Though SID could play the drums (i think with the Banshees) he didn't have any musical flair (you dont really have to to be a drummer).
But he was a fucking great punk.

Apparently quite a few of the biggest 'original' punk bands could properly play, but had to pretend not to be so good so that they could fit in and jump on the band wagon- pun?. The Clash for example. Do many people know that Joe Cocker went to a public school? A PUBLIC SCHOOL PUNK? It wouldn't bother me at all except he tried to hide it.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

How come i know more about punk history than most punks?

reaction anyone?
