Some people have a problem whereby their compaq does not respond when they press the power button - this happens even though the power supply is good and everything on the motherboard is secure (in fact - everything is probably fine). i recently had this issue with my friend's computer and had to do a little jump starting. there's a jumper on 2 of 3 pins on the board in the presario 5000. while the computer is plugged in - simply remove the jumper and replace it. the fan might start spinning and the computer might just start to run. if anyone has this issue -try to solve using that - you might just save alot of cash.
