Being that the movie is a hit, and all over the place, this actually came up recently. We hypothesized that if you're willing to allow that the radioactive spider gave Peter Parker the proportionate speed & strength of a spider, that it also could have given him the web fluid formula on some subconscious level. It's well established that Peter Parker is a fairly accomplished scientific mind, or at least has that potential, so it's certainly possible that he was merely able to make sense of the idea in his head. BTW, speaking of Sam Raimi, I was very disappointed that we missed out on a classic scene: the making of the webshooters. I was expected many sudden zooms, bolts clicking into place, etc. Perhaps even followed by a "Groovy".

This, I have no answer for. Did you ever see the What If... Spider-Man fought Paste-Pot Pete? They're both encased in web/paste, and Pete says, "Well, I'm outta here in an hour. What about you?"
