Lynn:

You don't HAVE to adminster it. There's not much involved:

Here is what you will go through:

After you get your new host, your are going to set up a MySQL (or another supported database soltuion) database. Note the username and password.

Upload the phpBB.

Go to something like: www.archwired.com/forums/install/install.php (I may be incorrect about that, but I know that's how it is with vBulletin. It will be evident in the documentation).

Fill in the information about the database (username and password), your username, and your password.

Click Install.

That's all there is to that. The designing of the actual layout is a little more involved, but it's not too terribly difficult. I can probably help with that, too. Also, there are plenty of styles available for download.

After that, you can make moderators on the forum. You can have people moderating all of the forums (preferable), or have different people moderating each individual forum.

If you have moderators (or even other administrators), you don't have to sign in ever, really. They can take care of it. Especially if they're administrators.

If you do not want to have other administrators or moderators, it will really be no different than this message board software. If something goes wrong, I suppose we'll all have to deal with it. You should also receive e-mail for errors, and people will be able to report posts to moderators. I don't know if there is a setting to allow it to also send them to administrators (if you have no moderators), but your e-mail address is plastered all over the site and we can all relay information to you about any problems that have erupted on the board.

There may be some issues with cookies and such if you do not set them up correctly. An interesting and often important feature to security is making people use valid e-mail addresses to register, which can be hidden, if the user so desires, from the average user. Some forum admins don't always set this up correctly; therefore, people are not receiving their e-mails. Obviously, this is a problem. However, it shouldn't be a problem with you, unless you use a whacky host.

But once you have configured it all correctly, added word censors if you feel so inclined (although I doubt it's really that necessary considering this site is for adults), etc., you really do not have to sign in.

We all understand that you have time restraints and none of us want to be a burden. There are many willing people, including myself, to help you moderate the board. If you'd rather not have that, then I'd say once or twice a week would be enough.

Sorry for my rambling. I finally answered your question in the last main sentence. ;)
