Hi Cathie. I was REALLY freaked out and terrified of getting my braces put on a couple of weeks ago. I let the assistant know how terrified I was, and she was great about it all. She talked me through everything, and put me at ease. I had bad experiences with dentists too, but she really helped me relax. Anyway, my point is, be honest about how you feel when you go in to get the expander installed. If they know about your gag reflex, and how uncomfortable you are, then they will no doubt be understanding and try to help you feel more at ease. When ar you getting the expander installed? Please keep us posted on how it goes. :)
