Hi everyone! I had a few late night minutes and this post caught my eye.
WOW Howard, it is too bad that you're sad about your motivation to straighten your teeth. There is really nothing terribly shallow or telling about someone's character about wanting to have a nice healthy straight smile.

My dentist truly recommends and believes in orthodontics for her patients.... simply put she says that "crooked teeth just don't last as long". I value keeping my teeth for my lifetime and mostly what causes people to loose their teeth is not fillings and restorative dental work, but gum and bone recession. Crooked teeth can significantly add to that.

For me having a pretty straight smile is only one reason to get braces (and for the second time here as well). Keeping a healthy perspective about what truly matters in this life is a great idea and can help keep you from getting far away from your core vitues. However, just enjoy your straight teeth and don't feel guilty over your motivation for getting braces. It is a long way from extreme makeover.
