You're right mary, us wanting healthy smiles does not make us shallow. I wrote the post yesterday right after watching the program, so my mind was a bit chaotic and i think i got a bit too emotional about the whole thing.

But i maintain (and i think you are agreeing on this) that some things are temporary and if we hold on to temporary things and they get taken away ie. we base who we are on something that might be taken away, we will be in trouble.

For example. My father is a burns surgeon and the other day i saw pictures of a beautiful little blonde ten year old girl and asked him about them. He replied that she had 90 % of her body burned and he was busy saving her life. She'll make it, but will be scarred for life.

Now i really don't want to be a doomsday prophet and say that such terrible things will happen but i just think that we all should base who we are not on money, looks, our achievements etc, but on things that cannot be taken away.
