okay so should i be the bearer of bad news. implants hurt. the procedure does not hurt but the actual acceptance hurts. meaning you are putting some metal through to your bone, it hurts like HELL. i am not lying or exaggerating on this one. i was sooo shocked at how much it hurt. in a few days it gets better but when people asked me how it felt i said "it feels like someone put a screw driver through my bone". after a few days the pain goes away but i stayed home from work for about 3 days and could barely eat.

i had the two part one. implant was done in december by january i was healed and ready for the crown but i didn't get the crown done until last month. i got a porcelain crown but it broke the first night i had it :) b/c i am tooth grinder. my dentist had suggested i get the gold crown but i really didn't want it. he wants to do a gold one now but i still don't want it. i just want him to either repair the porcelain one or make me a new one. i have a huge smile and i really don't want gold in the back of my mouth b/c when i laugh you can see down my throat :)

good luck on the implant not trying to scare you. like all things it will pass i just wish i had been more aware of the pain. i used a lot of pain meds and that helped. typically i never even fill my pain scripts.

i will eventually loose my central incisor and will need an implant there this is part of why i got the braces now so that when that happens my teeth will be in the correct position. the dentist did tell me that the implant on the incisor will be difficult in terms of getting it to look natural so i guess i will cross that bridge when i come to it :(
