Subject: Gum over wisdom teeth eroded - should I worry? (Dr. Rick?)

As I was brushing my teeth today I noticed the gum over one of my bottom wisdom teeth is eroded, and part of the tooth is showing. This worries me because I just had bands placed on my back molars a few weeks ago, and until now had no signs that my wisdom teeth were erupting.

It doesn't appear that the wisdom tooth has erupted, but rather the gum over it has been worn off or irritated by the band in front of it, exposing the tooth. This is going to make it incredibly difficult to keep clean and I'm worried about infection. There isn't any pain though.

My orthodontic treatment is paid in full, but I don't have dental insurance. I'm pretty sure I'll be told I need to see my dentist and plan to do so when I get the money to do so, but in the meantime is there anything I need to worry about? Do I need to seek dental treatment immediately, or can this wait until I can afford to make an appointment?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
