Hello Dea,

You have a great perspective on life. I feel very blessed too. I am 63 yrs. old but look much younger according to friends and family. It took some courage to make the decision to re-do braces after a relapse but I decided to "go for it" again. This decision was partly based upon witnessing a younger brother cope a life facing illness. He is in his early 50's but had a near fatal heart attack at age 48 yrs. He was diagnosed with type I diabetes (juvenile diabetes) at age 35 yrs. He did very well until his heart attack...controlled his diet and exercised regularly.
To make a long story short, he had a kidney transplant a year ago and a pancreas transplant 3 months ago. His wife was the donor for the kidney. He and all of the family truly appreciate the value of living each day to its fullest...and doing the things you wish to do NOW!
Being in braces was something that I had wanted to do for many years....but witnessing my brother's struggle with such serious illness puts everything in perspective. The minor aches and pains that we go through with braces is so little compared to what some people must live with on a daily basis.
I hope you will forgive me for this speech. But, I do think it is most important to realize that we are the fortunate ones...and that having braces is not the end of the world.

Best wishes to all, Anne
