I went through the same thing the first few days thinking, "This isn't so bad, what's all this wax nonsense about?"...

From my experience, you're going to need it...! Then things will get better after you use it for a while, and you'll think you're done with it, that your lips are toughened up, but then you're going to need it again (and again, and ...)...! I'm only months in, so I don't know if it stays like this until the end, but I wouldn't be surprised.

I find it depends mostly on how I sleep whether or not cuts and irritations will develop. Some mornings I wake up and it's like every band/bracket/wire is embedded into the inside of my face ... that's never pretty ... but it's not that bad, though, easy to deal...
