I was in Wal-mart and saw an item from Butler "GUM" called "Go-Between Cleaners".

It looks like a tiny, narrow brush attached to a small handle. The package description said it can be used one-handed. I don't know if it is available in Canada, however you may find something similar in a pharmacy (there were other similar products at Wal-mart) or maybe your orthodonist can get it for you.
