Hi Richard,

I had everything "installed" within 2 hours. My treatment started 4 weeks prior to that with 4 extractions, then 2 weeks later spacers between my molars, and then one week later the metal. My orthodontist has told me 18-24 months of treatment time but remember that your treatment time will depend on what needs to be done. Luckily, I haven't been told as yet that I need headgear so I can't really relate to you on that one but my thoughts are that you should do what you want and wear it only at nights and maybe weekends - if it extends the treatment, so be it. I only got one opinion too, but I'm happy with my orthodontist. If you're not happy, maybe you should switch. It's better that you do it now in the early stages than later when the process has begun.

Now finally, put thick socks on those cold feet and stop searching for reasons not to do this. Listen to the logic in your head, not the little voice that manages to put a negative spin on everything. 2 years will fly by and after a while, you won't even notice you've got braces (nor will anyone else). Good Luck, be positive and remember to floss! :) Katy
