I hate to make you jealous, but I was able to chew right away, albeit not so comfortably. I had a sub from Subway about an hour after I got my braces on. I think it was a good experience, though, because I realized just how much food gets stuck in my damn braces.

I wish I could answer your question, but it's so different for everyone. I think you should just put the pain aside and start chewing. In fact, I believe this will HELP with the pain because it will increase the blood flow. Of course, if the pain is rather intolerable, try to stick to softer foods for another couple of weeks.

How about some eggs and lightly-toasted toast, if you don't want soup and mashed potatoes?

Things will definitely get better.
