I have TMJ also and so far my jaw hasn't ached too much. My facial muscles are tight though and I use heat and massage on my face. The dental assistant at the Ortho's office just had her braces taken off. I asked her what type of pain she had with her braces and she said jaw pain. She doesn't have TMJ though. So, I guess that jaw pain can happen to anyone with braces. Since I take Bextra for arthritis, I try not to take additional Advil, but sometimes I do take it. Some days I take Tylenol arthritis which is just more mgs. of Tylenol and it helps.
