Mark from Australia is older than you, I think, and is using elastics to correct an underbite.

I'm 19 and I'm using elastics to bring my lower jaw forward. It has definitely worked.

Your ortho probably wouldn't use elastics if he or she didn't think they'd work.

I didn't see ANY changes until I realized what they were trying to accomplish (I'd no idea why I was wearing them). My lower arch and my upper arch are pretty close together now, so I'm hoping they'll tell me today at my adjustment that I won't have to wear elastics anymore! :D
