You know, I understand what you mean about feeling uncomfortable about maybe having food stuck in your braces while eating. But, honestly, there's just not much you can do about it other than starve and frankly I'd rather offend my fellow diners than starve to death! I must eat out for lunch 2-3 days a week with co-workers. I told them from the beginning that sometimes my braces got gunked up when I ate and that I was sorry about that but that's just the way it was. I asked them to let me know if there was some glaring, in-your-face piece of food stuck that I needed to know about NOW, otherwise I'd take care of the stuck food after I got done. I was very matter of fact about it and they were equally as matter of fact in accepting it. And that, folks, is the best any of us can do IMHO.
