X-rays were taken and impressions made for a study mold and the ortho put dimples in the Essix retainers to push a top tooth forward and a bottom tooth back that were hitting prematurely and keeping the molars apart enough that they were unable to chew thoroughly or grind hard foods. I feel such relief because when the braces came off, he said I would get used to the bite as it settled, but I wasn't! I was afraid I would be like this forever! I didn't realize they can do so much fine-tuning with retainers.
