Subject: White scars (decalcification), Dr. Rick?

I had rather (very) poor brushing habits for a few years as a teenager, before I started becoming interested in my teeth, which eventually turned into an obsession (lol).

Because of my poor oral hygiene, I have several white spots on my teeth. On my upper left central incisor, there is almost a triangular formation of decalification (?). On my upper right central incisor, there is a litle bit at the gumline and I'm not too worried about it. There is a lot in the "divot" type thing there, but I hope to have that bonded evnetually. There is TONS on the upper right lateral incisor--that's the tooth that was behind my central incisor. I'm not sure eevn brushing would have prevented that. :/

I've been researching microabrasion. Are there major limitations to its effectiveness? I assume it won't be too effective on my lateral incisor, as it's rather severe and I think bonding or a crown would be best because there's some issues with wear, but how far can microabrasion go? Do most dentists perform this procedure, or do they need special training and equiptment? How much does it cost--roughly?

These are really bugging me, so hopefully I can find a cheap but effective solution.

What are some other methods to fix them? Only microabrasion, crowns and bonding?

I believe I read that whitening your teeth can often decrease the noticeability, but in my past experiences they seem to whiten, too. :/

I hate the idea of anything like bonding or caps because of general staining, but I really want them fixed. They're driving me utterly insane.
