The reason my ortho always puts metal on the bottom is that he says if you bite down and your top teeth hits one of the ceramic brackets, it could break your tooth. Also, because they are a bit larger than the metal brackets, they can be a bit too big for smaller bottom teeth.

As far as colors, I have tried hot pink and baby blue on the ceramics, and both colors were really cute!! It is just nice to know that if you want to, you can go for the clear as well ...so you are not stuck either way. You should go for the ceramics!!
