After reading a lot on this board and on other sites, I don�t believe ceramic are better or worse per say, than metal. But as with all things in life there are pros and cons with any choice. The article on archwired.com titled �Which type of braces are best?� was very helpful.

I chose ceramic for the top, because - I am a not ashamed to admit it - my self-esteem couldn�t handle the metal. For me, the prospect of a few more weeks and the extra cost were worth it in the end.

I am very happy with my choice � in two weeks � I have eaten pretty much anything I have wanted with no broken brackets or pain. I haven�t had any cheek irritations or sores. They are pretty smooth, but they do feel a bit big. However, never having had metal I can�t adequately do a comparison of size or surface texture.

Is there any particular reason why you are considering potentially changing your metal brackets to ceramic?
