They may add the bands on your lower arch to give you time to get used to them and so you don't have to go through the pain of spacers two separate times.

I didn't get my top arch wire for several months after my initial banding and bonding, but I had all of the brackets. I had the lower arch wire right away, then had to have an appliance installed, and then had to have a tooth pulled. This next adjustment on the 16th, I will have more backets placed on the top and possibly the bottom.
