I'm confused -- does this mean they wouldn't cover any of the cost of treatment if you went with ceramics? My plan covers up to a maximum lifetime total (which comes to about half my treatment cost) and the rest is out of my pocket, so the extra $500 my doc wanted for ceramics over metal would have been out of my pocket too, but they still would have covered the same maximum total. I'm 40 and in a professional job and I decided to go with metal -- my friends have nothing but positive comments about them and I'm sure nobody else cares. I'm happy I didn't spend the extra $500 and that my insurance company covers adult orthodontia at all (many don't).

Is there a way to postpone putting on the junk for a couple of weeks? I don't know how many conferences you go to, but if I had only one this year, I'd want to get it out of the way before dealing with the first week of braces. I've had mine on for a little over a week and living on soft foods, which would have been a challenge on the road.

Good luck!
Gary
