First, your ortho should be able to set you up with a payment plan that works for both of you. I pay in monthly installments with no interest rate.
If you really want to get braces now, instead of when you are more financially stable, you’ll just have to get creative in money management. If you’re in your 20s and only supporting yourself, then it’s doable, but get ready for some materialistic and social sacrifices.
For example, I wanted to go to grad school, so I scrimped in my 20’s to save enough money to not have to take out a loan. This meant no cell phone, limited clothes shopping to only necessary items, no eating out – cooking at home is more economical, lots of creative homemade Christmas and birthday gifts, no grand vacations, no manicures/pedicures or expensive haircuts, no concerts, etc…
As you have only given us a tiny bit of the story, I can’t say anything regarding why your patents are unsupportive. They must have reasons beyond your health as to why they won’t loan you the money.
Finally, if you can’t cut it now, then you’ll have to bide your time until it is more feasible for you to get braces. Getting braces at 30 is not the end of the world. There are plenty of people out there who dont even have the opportunity.
