Hi Guys,

Just wondered if anyone was able to give me any support or guidance. I went to the ortho a week ago and, after a number of long months of straightening and tweaking with Titanium and low grade stainless stell archwires, he moved me on to, what he called, 'the final wire'. This involved a thicker stainless steel archwire and a power chain from molar band to molar band (I only have a braces (metal) on my top teeth). He said that this would bring all my teeth together, ie close the remaining gaps, and sort out my overjet (originally this was 4mm, not sure what it is now) and finish off the job. Just wondered if anyone else has had similar treatment and wondered how long it would take to sort out the problem. I am going on holiday at New Year and hope that my brace will be off by then. Is four months a realistic timescale for this 'final stage' to correct my problem?

Thanks in advance...just getting a wee bit disheartened at the mo ;0(
