Subject: HELP!! My front teeth are too small!

Okay, so my Ortho has advised me to look into "building out" my front teeth since they are small (from wearing), after my braces are removed. There is a gap at the very top of my front teeth as well as at the top of my canine teeth. They are also yellowish, so I'd like to whiten them post braces....yeah my teeth are sounding pretty bad! I've gotten a few opinions from cosmetic Dentists.
1) The first suggests that I opt for porcelin veneers since they would be durable and supposedly last longer. He said that I would be happier with the results.
2) The second Dentist thinks that gum surgery is the answer with some bonding done after on the front teeth.
3) My Ortho suggests that I build out my front teeth with CROWNS/CAPS!! Gum surgery might/might not be included in the treatment.
My thoughts are that I'm 45 and not interested in a "movie star" smile, but would like some improvement. I've already gone to the expense of braces and don't want to disturb/ruin my teeth by getting veneers, yet I'm not dismissing that option. I think that gum surgery to rid my smile of the "gumminess" and lengthen my front teeth is a very feasible option. Then if other steps need to be taken to improve my teeth further, then I'll see. I know it sounds like I'm answering my own question, but I really need to know your opinions!!! Anyone with thoughts about this or a similiar situation?
