Hi -

I have clear uppers and I actually asked for the metal tie wires at my second adjustment. They are so thin it's very hard to see them and they have a much cleaner look over the larger ceramic brackets than the bulkier elastic ligatures.

Re: the ceramics being noticeable anyway - yes, it's true that they're not totally invisible, but I chose ceramic uppers because most of my smile still looks bright, like teeth. I notice that my metal lowers really darken the bottom half of my smile.

Ceramic vs. metal is all about individual preference. I've read some people assume it's about personal insecurity etc. but I just prefer the look (because they ARE noticeable) of ceramic.
