I was in the same place as you awhile ago so I can totally sympathize. My main problem has always been crowding, no gaps - so it was really hard to get used to having it even though it was only for a few weeks (the total time from when it started opening to when it closed all the way).

The bigger thing for me was turning the key - I hated it and for the first week or so it REALLY hurt. For, like, 30 mins after I finished. But, after that, I had about a second of pressure and then everything was fine!

Just keep focused on the goal - it really helps. Even before I got my top braces on, I was already able to see noticeable improvement in my top teeth. One whole side of my top row had essentially been bent/caved in for almost 10 years - when I smiled, sometimes it looked like I had no teeth there. The expander fixed all that and when those teeth finally straightened out, I almost cried. I felt like such a dork. :-)

Anyway, you'll definitely make it through it. Cleaning around the expander (not to menthon my early thurring of words) has been a pain during the whole time I've had it but it would have taken MONTHS to get the result with just braces that I was able to get in 4 weeks with the expander.

Eyes on the prize! Good luck with the rest of your turns!
